Quiet Day

Sunday was a fairly quiet day. Gina spent Saturday night with mom and took care of dad so mom could get some sleep. Jere, Gina and the boys left just after lunch. Judy came over to sit with dad while we took mom out to the mall. She was able to get a good walk and a needed change of scenery. Don stopped by to visit with dad. Josh and Bethanie were around to watch the game. Dad said it was a boring game and he was right. He stayed awake for most of the second half. We were not sure he could see the TV, but he seemed to be tracking what was happening in the game. He can't talk much and his speech is slurred but he is understandable for the most part. We got the message loud and clear that he wasn't too impressed with the Vikings performance. He is weak but still manages to get to and from bed with the help of the walker and with someone guiding him. Bonnie stayed last night and reported that dad was very restless and no one got much sleep. He fights with his oxygen tubes and keeps pulling them off. We may need to look into hiring a nurse to spend the nights so mom can sleep. I can't blame dad for being tired of the oxygen tubes and tired of being in bed. It can't be easy for such an active person to suddenly be virtually helpless.
