Mom and dad have their tickets to Arizona. They arrive in Phoenix Saturday, March 18 in the late afternoon. If anyone wants to pick them up at the airport please let them know.
(952-652-6222) They will stay in Mesa until Wednesday the 29th. They will be driving their car back to Minnesota in time for dad to have his last chemo treatment.

Update on Dad February 23
Dad completed his 4th round of chemo this week with flying colors. He has 2 more rounds to go. He gets pretty sick after the treatments with stomach pain but that goes away after a few days. He saw Dr. Flynn (his oncologist) on Wednesday and the Dr. was pretty happy with the results so far. He even approved a trip to Arizona for mom and dad in March. It will be sometime after March 16 but before April 3. This is the time between treatment 5 and 6. So lookout you folks in Arizona. The bald beauty will soon be back in the sun for a few days. (If you see him without a hat remind him to wear one so his scalp doesn't burn!!)
I'll post the exact dates of their trip once they have confirmed flights. They will be staying for about 10 days and then driving their car back to MN. My sister Bonnie will be traveling with them for the drive home. We don't think dad will have the stamina to drive too much. Hopefully his softball buddies and other friends will still be in Mesa to see him while he is there. He is really looking forward to making this trip. Thankfully the Dr. thought it would be ok because I think he would have gone anyway. He's pretty stubborn you know.

Update on dad February 14
Happy Valentine's Day.
Dad had a blood draw today and had some mixed news with his counts. His white cells are ok, but his platelets are pretty low. He has to keep an eye on any bleeding and get to the ER if he has a nose bleed etc.
He went to the casino today, but only lasted an hour so you know he must be sick. His next treatment is February 20. Yes, that is mom's birthday so bummer for her. Hopefully his counts will bounce up a little before then or they will delay the chemo. His spirits are pretty good but it gets boring sitting around the house all day. He doesn't have much energy (evidenced in the lack of gambling time today) and sleeps a lot. Call or send cards. He loves hearing from people. Or you can write a comment on this web site and I will forward it to him.

Dad's Birthday Party Photos
Update on Dad 2-4-06
Dad finished the third round of chemo on Thursday. He's half done!!!! Three to go. He went in on Friday to get a shot to boost his white cell count. Hopefully that will help him so he does not get so sick after the treatments. The nurse said he looks good and is tolerating the chemo very well. He likes having the port for infusions so his hand does not get so sore and he is free to move around better. The treatments go for three days in a row. The first day takes 6 hours the second day 4 hours and about the same on the third day. Having the port just makes the entire experience a little better.
Steve and Peggy arrived yesterday so we had a small impromptu party for dad's birthday last night. The official party is tonight with more family attending. Cousin Jay Berge and his wife are coming to the party too. Jay sent dad some great pictures of some bad hair days for dad back in the late 50's. No hair doesn't seem so bad after seeing those photos!!! I'll try to get them posted on the site.
