Moving to Hospital

Dad had a very tough day yesterday and we have decided to move him to the long term care unit at Northfield Hospital. He'll be moving later today. As a result of the metastasis to the brain he is no longer himself and we can no longer care for him at home. He managed to get himself out of bed yesterday, fall to the floor and hurt his arm. We no longer feel that we can keep him safe at home. He refuses oxygen and medication and no longer knows what is going on around him. He needs 24 hour care at this point. It was a difficult decision to make but we all agreed that it is the best thing for dad. His heart is still very strong and his breathing is fine. We feel that visitors at this point would only confuse him and make him uncomfortable. He is no longer the Marland that you knew. I'll keep you updated after he is settled in.
