Northfield Care Center

Dad moved into the Northfield Care Center this afternoon. It is connected to the hospital, but staffed by different nurses. The trip was a bit painful for him but they got him settled in very quickly and sedated with some morphine so he was resting comfortably in no time. They will check on him often and make sure he is comfortable. We are all sad but relieved to see him make this move. It is the best thing for him. He is not awake but does stir a little when you touch him or talk to him. He'll be seen by a nurse/practioner tomorrow morning to see how his night went and adjust his meds as needed. As it turns out the nurse/practioner is a good friend of mine. (Mary Carlson) She specializes in geriatric care. She is an amazing person and will make sure he is pain free and well cared for. We could not have asked for better care. The entire staff was so wonderful to us and especially to dad. He proably wouldn't want all the fuss, but that is what they are there for.
More later....
