Did you vote? Dad voted last week by absentee ballot. I hope all of you are making an effort to get out and vote.
Dad had a fairly quiet night. I stayed with him last night and mom went up to Ann's to sleep. Mom reports she got a pretty good nights sleep. We may do the same thing tonight. Mom went to vote first thing this morning and then went to the grocery store. It's not easy for her to see dad like this especially when he gets mad and raises his voice. It's not really him as he is sort of out of it, but it is a bit disturbing to witness when it happens. The dying process is not easy. No wonder he's been trying to hurry it up. Cancer sucks.
Dad was up a few times during the night to go to the bathroom but wasn't really all that awake. He mostly sleeps. Increasing his meds seems to be keeping him calmer and he is breathing easier. He refuses to wear the oxygen tube so we quit fighting with him about it. The nurse thought he might be uncomfortable or just tired of the whole thing. It is one thing he can control so he is exercising his right. The lack of oxygen will likely add to his confusion, but there is no danger in refusing. I can't blame him. He is weak and tired and ready to go. If you know him at all you know he has never been a very patient person. He likes to get things done.
It's 11am and he is still sleeping. We probably won't get him out of bed. His body aches and moving him seems to cause pain. He sleeps and waits.

LaVerne/famiy: Please know in your hearts that we are there with you, spiritually, keeping the vigil. You have all done so well and I hold the highest admiration for you in allowing Marland to be home for his final days.Love you all. Peggy
