Dad had a fairly good night. Bonnie stayed over and said he got up 3 times to use the bathroom. He's a good patient and doesn't complain. He ate a little tapioca (sp?)this morning. He is up and in his chair again today. He likes to know what is going on on the farm and there is plenty of activity to keep track of. Jeff and Don keep him updated on the latest bale tally and other farm news.
Steve, Peggy and Jere left today. I think it was very difficult for all of them to say goodbye. It was so nice having them all here. Zac arrived yesterday and will stay until Wednesday. Ann stayed home today and Bonnie and I went back to work. Zac took grandma to town to do a little shopping and then to get her hair fixed. It was good for her to get out of the house and she enjoyed having Zac drive her. All the grandkids (except Chad who will arrive tomorrow) were in and out over the weekend. It was a lot of comotion but dad didn't seem to mind at all. He drifts in and out and talks if he feels like it. He had a little pain this morning in his belly so they got some stuff for him to take. Not a big deal and really the first pain he has reported.
The Hospice nurse was in today to see him and reports that he is doing fine. He told the nurse that he is ready to go and wants to go. She explained that there is no way to predict or control this. You know he is the kind of person that has to keep busy so sitting around with no strength is not what he considers living. He has been very matter-of-fact about the end of his life and doesn't want pitty. He says he has lived a good life and has no regrets. He has a very good spiritual faith and takes comfort in his belief in God.
Mom is very tired but finally did get some sleep last night. Bonnie took over the night time needs and mom slept. I'm not sure if she is looking at email, but please feel free to write to her and we'll make sure she gets them. You can also use the comment section on this blog to send messages to both of them. Dad can't figure out what all the fuss is about, but I think he is glad that so many people are holding him in thought and prayer.
He has had plenty of visitors:
The Conklins, Graffs, Johnsons, Aunt Phyllis/Bud, Cousin Rynda/John, Arlene and Myron Dack, Orv and Blanch Schuett have all been to see him over the last 3 days. He enjoys seeing people but can't stay awake very long.
More later....

I just wanted to let you all know that you are in my thoughts and prayers constantly. Jesse sent me the link to the website a few weeks ago and I check it religiously. May your faith continue to uphold all of you during this time. What a blessing it is to be part, even distantly and through marriage, of such an amazing, loving, caring family. Please let me know if I can do anything for any one of you. Thoughts of love and comfort, Becky Swenson
