The report on the MRI done today are back. Directly from the report it reads as follows:
Since the previous exam on 12/14/06 there has been a very marked interval decrease in the size of the right upper lobe mass lesion and the adjacent lymphadenopathy. The mass measures were 59mm by 42 mm and on today's study the mass measures 23mm x 33mm. (My comment: The chemo is doing it's job and shrinking the tumor so all of the pain and problems with chemo are paying off in the shrinking of the tumor)
Cardiac and pericardial soft tissues are normal. Lung window settings otherwise show extensive changes of emphysema and fibrosis. There is an area of minimal infiltrate in the right middle lobe. Left lung is clear. No new parenchymal nodule is evident. The lumen of the superior vena cava is patent. No new metestatic focus suggested. CT exam of abdomen and pelvis are negative. No metestatic lesion is seen. No pelvic mass. Bowel loops are normal. Liver and spleen are normal. Pancreas and gallbladder are normal.
The Dr was pleased with these results and although there are 4 more treatments to go and the treatments really wipe dad out, the results are positive. Dad will get a port-a-cath on Thursday which should make the chemo drug infusions a lot easier for the remaining treatments. Dad's nurse contiues to move heaven and earth to get results back quickly and keeps the Dr. well informed of what is happeing with dad on a daily basis. Dad is having stomach aches as a result of the effects of the chemo but the pain is not too bad. We are having a birthday party for him on February 5 (his b/day is Feb3) and he will be 78. Keep the cards, phone calls and prayers coming. He really enjoys hearing from others.
