Mom's Blog 2.17.08

Hello Everyone,

It's been a quiet week but will try to fill you in on my activities.

Monday was uneventful!! Tuesday morning we had a block party with muffins, rolls, coffee cake, and coffee on the neighbors patio. In the afternoon, I was invited to Eldrin & Sonja's home for a visit with them. Eldrin is Marland's cousin and was an usher at our wedding almost 59 years ago!!! We had a lot of news to catch up on because they still live near Elbow Lake and that is where Marland & I lived for the first 20 years of our marriage. It is still like home to me in many ways.

Wednesday I went to Lenten services at church..

Thursday I went to the Diablos ball game and that evening I attended a concert in our park. It was a country western concert and I enjoyed all the old songs that Marland & I used to dance to.

Friday I was invited to Bob & Janie Anderson's home for lunch. They live in Northfield in the summer and Janie is one of the gals I have coffee with most every Monday morning when I'm in Northfield. We had a good visit catching up on all the Northfield news.

Saturday night was a really great experience. I was an usher at the "Nelson Twins" concert. I got to visit and shake hands with Matthew Nelson (I almost didn't wash my hands afterwards). I remember "The Ozzie & Harriet Show" on TV and then Ricky Nelson (the songwriter and singer) These boys are Ricky Nelsons twin sons. They sang all the songs that I remember their father made famous plus songs that they have written.
"Travelin''' Man" "Mary Lou" "Garden Party" and many more. I had a front row seat (because I was an usher) and got an autographed copy of the program. Wow! I feel like a teenager again!! It was right here in our ballroom so very convenient. Sometimes it doesn't take much to make a person happy, even for a little while.

This evening is the Minnesota picnic here in the park. Minnesota has the largest delegation of any state that spends time in Viewpoint. There will be a huge crowd.

Until next week--LaVerne
